In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the power of the internet has proven to be a catalyst for transformation across various industries.

Recognising this paradigm shift, Vonex, a leading telecommunications provider, has committed to modernising the aged care sector with high-performance internet, phone and mobile solutions to enhance business operations and the customer experience.

From streaming the latest series to online shopping, cosying up with a Kindle to face-timing friends, if there’s one thing that the last few years have taught us, it’s that Senior Australians are embracing a digitally intrinsic way of life. With Vonex’s comprehensive range of services and cutting-edge technology, your organisation will be well prepared to leverage emerging well-being and healthcare innovations to address the modern senior’s changing social, health and safety needs while enhancing mobility and independence.

Furthermore, with Vonex, your business can go to market with the ultimate competitive advantage – the power to promote optimum connectivity, virtual capabilities and customer-centred services to create a seamless and enriching experience from customer acquisition to transition and throughout residency, all while streamlining operational costs.

Two case studies exemplify Vonex’s commitment to revolutionising the aged: Ethnic Community Council of Queensland, QLD, and Heritage Care, NSW and VIC.

Ethnic Community Council of Queensland

In February 2022, CommChoice, a trusted Vonex Channel Partner, was tasked with providing a unified communication solution for ECCQ.

Operating from four locations with separate on-site phone systems and no ability to transfer calls, ECCQ faced challenges in business communications and unnecessarily high operational expenses. To address these issues, CommChoice selected Vonex’s signature cloud-based PBX phone system to amalgamate sites, streamline costs and improve efficiency.

The collaboration between Vonex and CommChoice extended beyond ECCQ’s phone system to the construction of Berlasco Court, a state-of-the-art six-story aged care facility in Toowong, Brisbane. Housing 116 residents and acting as an administration hub for ECCQ’s subsidiary Diversicare, the organisation sought a system that could connect the facility with ~160 field staff working at home care sites.

Vonex’s adaptability and scalability came to the fore to overcome this challenge with CommChoice integrating the Vonex softphone mobile app into the Vonex PBX phone system, connecting all nurses and staff seamlessly and cost-effectively via their personal mobile devices without compromising their privacy. Additionally, the residents of Berlasco Court were each provided with unique telephone numbers and user-friendly big-button handsets, offering easy and reliable communication with loved ones and a rewarding sense of independence.

Heritage Care

In 2020, Heritage Care’s Head of IT contacted Vonex upon acquiring several nursing homes in Sydney, Queanbeyan and Melbourne. The assets required major network and communications infrastructure upgrades to provide staff, customers, and their families with the latest technology and support compliance with stringent industry quality and safety standards.

All properties are now equipped modernised phone system to streamline communications and fast, reliable Fibre 1000 internet data distributed to all computer devices for maximum productivity. Highspeed WiFi access throughout each property enables residents to enjoy the creature comforts of home (video calling and 4k streaming) and enhanced provision of care with dependable SIP telephone lines, nurse call systems and real-time security surveillance.

The success of these collaborations are just two examples of the immense potential of telecommunications in aged care. Whether streamlining operations, improving communication, or promoting independence, Vonex’s comprehensive suite of products and services is the key to unlocking a brighter future in aged care.
