
Vally is an epidemiologist whose strength is the breadth of his experience. He has worked in a number of areas, including infectious diseases, foodborne diseases, nutrition, child health, asthma and Indigenous Health. One of his specialist areas is applied epidemiology, with a focus on the investigation and response to outbreaks and epidemics of disease. In addition to his work in Australia, he has extensive experience working in the Asia Pacific region, having worked in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia in capacity building and responding to health emergencies. He also has considerable expertise in science and health communication, with a particular interest in risk communication.
