RSL LifeCare, in partnership with RSL NSW and local sub-Branches, has achieved unprecedented levels of support for veterans and their families in Australia. The organisation has provided a wide range of services including health, housing, employment, financial assistance, and wellbeing support, as well as DVA claims and advocacy services.
Over the 2021-2023 financial years, this comprehensive support has been made possible through substantial funding from multiple sources:
- RSL NSW sub-Branches: $8.6 million
- RSL LifeCare: $8.8 million
- Government support: $4.5 million from NSW and Commonwealth Governments
In the past fiscal year alone, RSL LifeCare Veteran Services has made significant strides:
- Distributed over $359,392 in financial assistance across 350 cases
- Provided housing support to more than 142 veterans
- Assisted over 770 veterans in lodging 3,390 DVA claims
- Offered employment services to 58 veterans and their partners
- Lodged 201 new Veterans Review Board Appeals and completed 321 mediations
- Expanded the Spur Ranch Equine Program, benefiting over 100 veterans
- Provided over 4,900 nights of safe shelter for homeless veterans
RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir emphasised the importance of these services, stating, “Our veterans have made extraordinary sacrifices in service to our nation, and it is our duty to ensure they receive the care and support they need upon their return.”
“I am deeply grateful for all those in the RSL LifeCare community who have helped deliver support to our veteran community and very thankful for the RSL NSW sub-Branches who donated $3.2 million to the VSF in the 2023 financial year to help us continue these vital services,” said Muir.
RSL NSW President Mick Bainbridge added, “The generosity of RSL NSW sub-Branches highlights the strength of our community. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of veterans and their families, ensuring they have access to critical services and support.”
“This funding empowers RSL LifeCare Veteran Services to expand its reach and offer even greater support. Our mission is clear: to serve those who have served us, and this donation reflects the unwavering commitment of RSL NSW to that cause.”
