The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is a not-for-profit membership organisation representing plastic and reconstructive surgeons. ASPS promotes, develops and advances the practice of plastic surgery, including its relationship with medicine and the allied services throughout Australia. ASPS maintains the highest standards of surgical practice and ethics in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Australia. Members are bona fide plastic surgeons who are in full-time plastic surgery practice and who hold a fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
The Senior MBS Specialist Officer is a new role, responsible for supporting the ASPS membership with enquiries regarding the Medical Benefits Schedule (MBS) item numbers. There is scope to develop the role and make a significant contribution toward the member experience.
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the role liaises with members and the ASPS Therapeutic Procedures Committee to ensure that MBS enquiries and issues are dealt with effectively and in a timely manner. The role will oversee the ASPS internal panel that answers member queries regarding item numbers and liaise with the Department of Health Medicare Advisory Committee and private health insurers regarding related issues.
We are a small and busy organisation; to succeed in this role, you will thrive on working collaboratively with highly-motivated staff. The successful candidate will have strong experience in project management and extensive knowledge with MBS item numbers. Experience with the Department of Health and private health insurers and a knowledge of plastic surgery will be highly regarded.
