The Maggie Beer Foundation, a leading advocate for improving food quality and the dining experience in aged care, has appointed Jane Mussared as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mussared’s appointment comes at a critical time as the Foundation looks to scale its impact and achieve its ambitious goal of enriching the lives of older Australians through the power of food.
Maggie Beer, the Foundation’s founder, expressed her delight in welcoming Mussared to the helm: “For 10 years, Maggie Beer has been at the forefront of the Foundation and instrumental in every facet of the business. Maggie’s knowledge, expertise and passion will continue to lead, educate and inspire in a way only Maggie can, but I look forward to working with her as we grow the Foundation’s reach, influence and footprint.”
Mussared, who has a distinguished background in policy, advocacy and aged care leadership, is well-equipped to guide the Foundation through its next phase of growth. She previously held an advisory role to Federal Health and Aged Care Minister, Mark Butler, and has a wealth of experience in the sector.
“There is much work to be done but the journey is so exciting,” said Maggie Beer. “Food is nutrition not just for the body, but also for the soul. It’s what fires our appetite for life, no matter what age. Every mouthful counts as we age, and I’m delighted to have Jane at the helm, to help achieve our goal of making good food and good eating the reality for each and every older Australian.”
Under Mussared’s leadership, the Foundation will continue to drive its mission of raising the bar on food quality and the dining experience in aged care. This includes expanding its chef and cook training programs, developing new educational resources, and collaborating with industry partners to drive systemic change.
Maggie Beer Foundation Chair, Jon Clarke, expressed his confidence in Mussared’s ability to take the organisation to new heights: “We’re thrilled to have someone of Jane’s calibre who has such a deep passion and understanding of advocacy and the aged care sector, lead us into the future.”
As the Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary, the appointment of Jane Mussared as CEO marks an exciting new chapter in its journey to enrich the lives of older Australians through the transformative power of good food.
