Civica welcomes proposed design for new Support at Home Program

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety provided a significant number of recommendations, including the need to implement a new aged care program.
The report indicated “the System Governor should complete its work on the optimal design for the integration of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Home Care Package Program.” In response, the Australian Department of Health has commenced planning for the new Support at Home Program due to start in July 2023. The improved support will aim to reduce the amount of senior Australians having to enter residential aged care prematurely and against their wishes. The program expects to aid individualised support plans, provide more clarity on service inclusions, funding of providers, and overall lead to better regulation of the market.
In support of the changes to a new program for goods, equipment, assistive technologies, and home modification needs to live safely and independently, Civica is reviewing requirements around assessment and future claiming to enhance the capabilities of the Carelink Suite.
