Altaira commitment this October’s Mental Health Awareness Month

Share

Labour hire agency Altaira is encouraging their aged care staff to attend Healthcare Heartbeat’s Reflect, Reset, & Renew session this October’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Altaira is covering the cost for staff who wish to attend the beneficial 90-minute online group coaching session in hopes that they will learn strategies to better manage the challenges and stress that can arise on a daily basis.

Altaira places the upmost importance on offering support and strategies to improve the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals working within the aged care sector.

Given the ongoing challenges, Altaira has been working with like-minded organisations such as Healthcare Heartbeat to support the mental health and wellness of their Nurses and Personal Carers in particular.

Mindfulness-based practices have been found to be an effective response to workplace stress with evidence finding it supports reducing cortisol (the stress hormone which contributes to anxiety, memory loss and sleep disorders) while also increasing levels of serotonin (the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of well-being and happiness).

With this in mind, the Reflect, Reset, & Renew session is tailored for healthcare professionals, and the practices explored are designed to be used at the moment, such as in PPE in the middle of a shift.

Other benefits of the session include learning how to begin a shift feeling ‘renewed’ instead of ‘depleted’, and identifying how one can positively influence outcomes.

The Reflect, Reset, & Renew session is facilitated by Katheryn Curnow of Finnbell Consulting, who has over 15 years of experience working as an Organisational Development Consultant and is certified in the Health Industry Leadership Capability Assessment. She is also a Level 2 iRest teacher which delivers Meditation and Deep Relaxation Techniques to Overcome
Trauma/PTSD.

A portion of the registration fees for this session is contributed to Healthcare Heartbeat, towards building the mental fitness of nurses, healthcare professionals and first responders across the nation.
