An opportunity exists at Bulli Hospital for a Full-Time Permanent Assistant In Nursing.

What you’ll be doing

Assistants in nursing work within a plan of care under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse and within the limits of the Assistant in Nursing position description Assistants in Nursing retain responsibility for their own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions Assistants in Nursing practice in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, the position description and local policy and protocol.

Where you’ll be working

Bulli District Hospital is a 52 bed facility offering sub-acute Aged Care services across two wards, Sid Atkins Ward and Roper Ward.  Bulli works closely with the Aged Care Specialist team at Wollongong Hospital to ensure a safe and timely transfer of patients who have completed an acute episode of care and require additional assessment, Sub-Acute medical management and planning for ongoing care needs.  Bulli Hospital also provides outpatient Geriatric Services via the Geriatric Outpatient Therapy unit.  This service is supported by a Geriatrician, Advanced Trainee in Aged Care, specialist nursing staff and Allied Health. The outpatient unit houses a therapy area and assessment area for patient appointments.

 

The Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence is an innovative collaboration between Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and IRT.  The new $50.4 million Centre of Excellence has been specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the local population.  The project will see the construction of a new facility opposite the existing Bulli Hospital, to transform the site into a centre of excellence focussed on geriatric medicine.

Successful applicants to the role must provide certified documentation of vaccination history and pathology as part of their recruitment documentation. Selection Criteria:

  • HLT32507 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or 2 or 3 Year Undergraduate Nursing Student.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of manual handling techniques and infection control.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
