Hours/Period of Appointment

Fixed-term, full time, day work working 76 hours per fortnight to commence as soon as possible until July 2 2022.
Please note: part-time appointments will be considered.

Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Note: This selection process may be used to fill casual roles if applicable.

Duties

The Adverse events following immunisation and medication allergy clinic will:

  • Provide secondary referral operational services to members of the public following adverse events to medications, with a focus on antibiotics and immunisation reactions. Service will include case management of affected individuals and allergy testing.
  • Work with other jurisdictions, public health services and the general practice to develop, facilitate and implement both practice and policy initiatives and priorities, including best practice allergy management and support.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Allergy Clinic:

  • Has a state-wide role, and functions in collaboration with Public Health services, providing expertise and guidance to immunisation providers and other key stakeholders.
  • Provides management and clinical support to the Specialist Medical Advisors and other staff within the clinic in relation to the development and implementation of best practice allergy service, advice, and stakeholder support.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification as a Nurse Immuniser registered with Public Health within Tasmania or eligible to be registered.
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or experience in immunisation or allergy management, including skin prick testing.
