On 19 March 2020, a public health emergency was declared in the ACT due to the public health risks posed by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-COV-2. A COVID-19 Response Team has been created to deliver the public health response over a longer term.

The COVID-19 Response Team is seeking Administration Officers to assist with the COVID-19 public health response. Temporary staff are required to assist with effective management and processing of exemption requests which relate to the Public Health Emergency Directions and other tasks as required to assist the Public Health Emergency Coordination Centre (PHECC) and the broader ACT Health Directorate. Applicants should have customer service experience, excellent verbal communication skills, experience with using databases, and be flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing work environment.

Note:

  • These are temporary positions available immediately initially for a period of 8 weeks and up to 6 months.
  • Applications are open to ACT residents only who are currently not under any travel restrictions and have not been in a close or casual contact site.
  • The successful applicants will be required to work a rotating roster arrangement of 10 hour shifts on 4 days on, 4 days off basis. Shifts will be 0700-1700 or 1200-2200 on a rotating basis so applicants should be available between these times.
  • Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. An order of merit will be established from this process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
