About the Role

The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of surgical/[procedural patients/residents/clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of specialist anaesthetic nursing care. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports in management activities including Anaesthetic Team Leader and specialist portfolio responsibilities.

The Anaesthetic Care Unit provides anaesthetic nursing care in the Princess Alexandra Hospital’s 21 operating theatres and areas other than theatre, including the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Endoscopy Suite and Radiology Departments. We are a tertiary referral centre, our client base includes liver transplant patients, cardio-thoracic, spinal, major trauma and those at high anaesthetic or surgical risk. The Anaesthetic Care Unit provides a 7 day per week, 24 hours per day service.
